KHIN ZAW LATT
Khin Zaw Latt was born in 1980 in Laputta, Ayeyarwaddy Division, Myanmar. He grew up in a family of artists, his father being a pianist, his mother a Myanmar traditional dancer and one of his elder brother a painter.
He started drawing at a very young age. From 1998 to 2002 he attended the University of Culture in Yangon, where he studied painting. After graduating, he decided to do a tour of Asian countries in order to get inspiration for his Artistic practice. In 2007 he visited India and Nepal. In 2008 he visited Malaysia where he attended an artists residency. He also visited Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, to further develop his knowledge of art practices in the region.
After receiving a honorary mention at the 2004 Myanmar Contemporary Art Award he was the winner of the 2008 Myanmar Contemporary Art Award. He was a finalist in the 2009 Sovereign Art Prize and won a first prize at the first ever Myanmar national portrait competition, in 2011.
He has already showcased his work in 6 solo exhibitions and over 15 group exhibitions in Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Nepal, America, Germany, Thailand, Canada and Belgium.Most of his collectors are from Germany, France, Switzerland, UK, Canada, USA, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. He is the founder of KZL ART Gallery and Bamboo Art School.
